The Noctuidae (Owlet moths) is considered to be the largest family in the Lepidoptera order. There are more than 35,000 known species with an estimated 100,000 species all together. They are mostly nocturnal and are attracted to sugar and nectar-rich flowers. However, as a collector, there is nothing more exciting than to go collect Catocala (Underwings moths) moths yourself. They are a diverse group of moths, varying in size and colors and are found all over Eurasia and North America . They are easily baited with a mixture of molasses, beer and ripe fruits. Other species worth mentioning: Thysania agrippina (White Witch moth) and Phyllodes sp.
